Its been three years since The Big blackout, and I was NOT prepared. Bank machines down we had no way to add to what little we had and we were not alone. We emptied our freezer and had a big barbque inviting most of our neighbors kids for a meal of hamburgers and and what ever else was defrosting. For a few days we were equal, equally without. No batteries,no bottled water,no news,no fresh food, no power. I swore we would be better prepared next time. Did you find your self in the same boat or did you think ahead and have a few more comforts? How would you do it differently? This question is concerns any disaster not just blackouts. The connection Emergency preparedness
Thanks for the answers so far but I need serious answers if you would be so kind.
I have lots of towels iansand9876
I am towel prepared. I guess I can burn them when the barbque is empty, and wipe the fear based sweat off my brow. I read War of the worlds tinfoilwindexwater I will keep that in mind. Only gangsters can have guns in our country and I am not a card carrying member glock509.
Thanks
This is a tiebreaker I can’t pick so i will put to a vote. It is between jporrero78 and mury902 who will be doing pretty good next emergency,at least you have some important items. I just wanted to get people thinking and get ideas, thanks much! ~A~

500 rounds each for my 4 guns
I’ve got my plan from War of the Worlds. I’m gonna club the crazy guy with a shovel since he can’t shut up. That’s my plan. Which big blackout are you referring to ? I’ll tell you one thing I won’t be waiting days at a stadium no matter what the Mayor told me and they reelected that idiot. I’ll tell you what I’d pass on the Oprah interview and be kicking store windows open, gun stores included.
I have a towel.
I am prepared to an extent. I could be more prepared. We have spare cash in the house, plus bottled water and we always have tons of snack type food and extra batteries for a back up radio. In case we need to evacuate we already know which items we would grab if only given a few minutes.
Of course when the time comes I am sure all the prep work will fly out the window.
I am not Mormon, but I am prepared like one.
Honestly, I just keep some very basic supplies. Water, canned goods (and an opener!), a small amount of gas, maybe small jewels and cash. That’s about it. That’ll get me through any small disaster. If a bigger disaster arises, I’m pretty confident I can get through it, I’m resourceful and independent, I think I could make it.
